Trust Jesus More? (Part 2)
In our last blog we discussed the importance in Prayer and Meditation in communing with our God. My prayer time used to resemble a shopping list but after a few months of spending more time on my knees using the tips I shared last blog, there was a particular day in prayer when I was struck with a sense of complete powerlessness. Now to my discredit, I have to admit that I have spent much of my life depending on my own power, praying that God would help me but in the end depending on more of myself than my God. I have been raised in a world of competition rather than in the compassion of Jesus. I was an over achiever, always seeking to raise myself up in others eyes. and looking down on others less fortunate. Much of it has been a life of hypocrsy, pretending to be a strong Christian when in fact, in my heart, a spiritual weakling. The end result was failure and sin, discrediting my Lord, stealing glory that was His. On the day in Prayer and meditation I was in a deep dark place of my soul. However, when I admitted to myself and God this sense of powerlessness I also saw that I was not to despair because I also now understood that it was replaced by the light of a greater trust in Jesus who is present to provide the strength and courage that I need to follow Him each day. For as Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do NOTHING, (John 15:5)
In order to trust Jesus More we need to trust in our own strength Less, we need to realize that we are powerless and need to depend on Him for any power to do His will or to seek a change in our old sin nature.
Mark it on your calendars - For the 10th year in a row on Sept. 21st we will be at the Red Gate at the State Fair in Puyallup from about 11AM to 6PM giving away free T-shirts to those who will wear them in the fair.
