Have you taken the time to consider the word Trust in the term Trust Jesus on our T-shirts. Let's talk about the word Trust. In a book called "Trust" by Dr. Henry Cloud, he discusses the 5 essentials of Trust that can be applied to Christian and non-Christian culture as well. Trust should also be present when witnessing to unbelievers. Trust implies safety, someone with whom you feel safe, to be vulnerable with, whom you would trust to accomplish a task or supply your need. It applies to a host of relationships that we form in this world, in business, families, marriages, friendships, churches, workers, etc. These 5 essentials of trust are as follows:

  1. Understanding - We all want to be understood. It follows that you would want someone to listen to you as you express your needs and desires. One who seeks to really know you. We all are born into this world with a desire to be known and loved, with whom you can feel secure, one who understands you. As regards our Lord and Savior consider this scripture: [ And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. (Heb 4:13,15) Do you know that God knows you and loves you and accepts you just as you are and He knows the problems you are dealing with. He knows you and understands you better than you know yourself.

  2. Motive - regarding the person whom you are considering giving your trust. Is this person seeking to manipulate you in some manner? To fleece you of your hard earned dollars. Is their motive self seeking or out of a desire of love or care for you and those you love. [ For God so loved the world that He gave His Only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall have eternal life. John 3:16] Conclusion, His motives are born out of pure LOVE that we can only begin to even comprehend.

  3. Character- What are the Character qualities of the person with whom you are dealing. Oftentime people are so infatuated in a budding romantic relationship with preconcieved ideas that they overlook that nagging feeling that there is something wrong with a person's character but don't check it out. They see what they want to see. They don't listen to or even want a friends opinion. The character of our God: Seraphim stood above Him , each having six wings; with two he covered his face and with two he covered his feet and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory." (Isa.6:2,3) ] Conclusion: His character is unimpeachable and incapable of any sinful character trait He is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!!!

  4. Ability - Does the person whom I am considering to have a relationship with have the ability to perform the task required. Would I trust a person to do knee surgery (like I had last January) if he were a janitor in the hospital or even another doctor in another speciality who had never done that surgery before? Just listen to the words of our savior, [And looking at them, Jesus said to them, with people this is impossible, but all things are possible with God (Mat: 19,26)] Conclusion: He is definitely able.

  5. Track Record - Forgiveness is given freely but Trust is something that must be earned. In order to trust someone who has hurt you or betrayed you in one way or another, it is necessary that the offending party demonstrate a track record of works in which he is earnestly desiring to change in keeping with his repentance. It takes time. Many times we don't trust others because of the sins and pain of family members inflicted upon us. Although God has never hurt us and unlike our earthly parents God is always faithful.["The Rock, all His ways are just; a God of Faithfulness and without injustice, righteous and upright is He." Gen 47:4 and "I will never ever leave you or forsake you Heb.13:5.]  God's track record - He is always faithful.

Therefore, let's re-examine Jesus with the 5 essentials of Trust. How is HIs:

    • Understanding - He knows you better than yourself and loves you as you are!

    • Motivation - His motive are always love!

    • Character - Unimpeachable!

    • Ability - Nothing is impossible with Him!

    • Track Record -Always faithful!

  6. YOU CAN TRUST JESUS! Please pray about it, Will you share that message with others?
